KUNKLE SEWER SYSTEM
On Friday, October 11, 2019, Todd Roth, Williams County Engineer; Brian Davis, Williams County Commissioner; Cody Frey, Williams County Design Engineer; and Dennis Miller, Maumee Valley Planning Organization met with Ohio Small Community Environmental Infrastructure Group (SCEIG) to present our existing funding need for the Kunkle sewer system. SCEIG is a group that provides grants and low interest loans for water and wastewater Project. Williams County has been under Findings and Orders by the Ohio EPA for several years to take corrective action regarding the Kunkle Sewer System. Said presentation included design style, layout, estimated cost, and timelines. The projected cost of the project is approximately $4.5 million. At this time, commitments totaling $3,050,000 have been secured in grant funding to go along with last year’s $1,000,000 grant from the Army Corp of Engineers (Ohio Water Develop Authority, Development Service Agency $1,000,000; DSA $750,000; and Water Pollution Control Loan Fund $1,300,000). The Williams County Revolving loan fund will also participate with a $400,000 grant. Williams County will have to successfully apply for funding to secure the additional commitments and will coordinate these funding resources to construct the Kunkle Wastewater Facilities. The County will endeavor to coordinate the requests for funding on a schedule of late spring of next year.
