THE
WILLIAMS COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS AND WILLIAMS COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
AGENCIES:
The
Williams County Communications Agency (WCCA) is the hub of public safety for
Williams County. It is staffed 24
hours a day, 365 days a year and is the answering and dispatching point for 7
village Police Departments, the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williams
County EMS, 9 village and township Fire Departments.
WCCA is Williams County’s primary 9-1-1 answering point and the
answering point for all cellular 9-1-1 calls in Williams County.
It also provides after hours service for Williams County’s Juvenile
Probation, Job and Family Services, Dog Warden, County Engineer and Highway,
Victim Assistance and Humane Society offices.
The
Williams County Emergency Management (EMA) agency shares office space and
personnel with the Williams County Communications Agency.
EMA is responsible for planning, mitigation, response and recovery of any
large-scale emergencies or disasters in Williams County.
In the event of any large-scale emergency or disaster, the EMA will open
an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) within their facility.
Officials from village, township, county and state agencies will convene
to direct operations at the EOC.
Williams
County has been online with 9-1-1 services since May 1991 and has provided Phase
II wireless 9-1-1 services since November 2008.
All landline/wired 9-1-1 calls from county residences are immediately
routed to the Williams County Communications Center.
All landline/wired 9-1-1 calls from within the city limits of Bryan, OH,
are routed to the Bryan Police Department. In
the event of equipment failure or volume overload, both agencies are designed to
provide a backup system for each other.
Williams
County is served by an Enhanced 9-1-1 system.
The name, address, and telephone number of the telephone used to dial
9-1-1 is displayed on a computer screen at WCCA if a traditional, wired
telephone was used to make the call. Additionally,
the location is plotted on a map at each dispatch position at WCCA.
